Our Hours We try our best to accommodate our patients as much as possible when scheduling appointments. We have found that children with extensive dental work or preschool children are better to be seen early in the morning when they are fresher and can have a more positive experience. - We are available for appointment requests Monday thru Friday 8:00 – 5:00. If you have an emergency, please call our office at 907.220.9231 and listen to our message. Dr. Kristi or a team member will return your call. Policies We request 24-hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. We are aware that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment, but we ask for your help as a courtesy to all of our families. Our mission is to provide affordable, top-quality treatment. We offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs such as Medicaid, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover and CareCredit. We thoroughly explain your options, so that we can accommodate your financial situation. We participate as a PPO provider with Medicaid/ Denali Kid Care, Tricare/ United Concordia, BCBS and Delta Dental/ Moda. Our office is committed to helping you maximize your insurance benefits. Because insurance policies vary greatly, we can only estimate your coverage in good faith but cannot guarantee coverage due to the complexities of insurance contracts. Your estimated patient portion must be paid at the time of service. As a courtesy to our patients, we will bill your insurance company for services provided. Our courteous team is always available for questions at 907.220.9231.

  • What should I bring on my first visit?

On your first visit to our office, please bring your insurance card and our  Welcome Packet  already completed.

  • Do you accept dental insurance?

We accept most major insurances and participate as a PPO provider with Medicaid/ Denali Kid Care, Tricare/United Concordia, BCBS and Delta Dental/ Moda.

Please understand that we bill dental insurance as a courtesy to our patients. We do not have a contract with your insurance company, only you do. Receiving all of your child’s insurance information prior to the first dental visit will help us determine that you have coverage for your child and will assist us in determining what your benefits might be. Your estimated patient portion must be paid at the time of service.

We would be happy to discuss fees and insurance with parents prior to the first visit in our office.  Our receptionists will discuss this with you, and answer any questions you may have prior to making your first appointment.

Your insurance may cover a portion of our services. We gladly accept cash, check and all major credit cards.

  • My child has special healthcare needs. Can you help us?

The extra years of training that pediatric dentists complete includes training in the care of children and adults with special needs. In addition, pediatric dental offices are designed to be accessible for special needs patients.

  • We have several children and scheduling is important to us.
Do you run on time, and will you see all my children at once?

Seeing several children in one family at the same time is never a problem for our staff.  We know that our parents have busy schedules, and we do our best to stay on schedule at all times.

Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Kristi is a pediatric dentist, she specializes in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, adolescents and those with special needs. Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist? A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education. We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their ”cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future. What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist? When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Kristi, has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

Pediatric Dental Services

Preventive Oral Hygiene Instruction:

This includes proper brushing, flossing and eating habits, ideal fluoride levels and the use of pit and fissure sealants. We strive to provide a fun, educational environment where children learn about the importance of good dental hygiene.

Restorative Dentistry:

This includes children’s fillings, crowns and prosthesis, including treatment of the often devastating nursing bottle decay.  Dr. Kristi is committed to discussing all options before these procedures and answering all questions you may have.  Always working for the goal of a healthy smile is her priority.

Tongue-Tie:

Tongue-Tie occurs when the fiber attachments of the tongue or the lip are in the wrong position, and it’s easily corrected with a surgical procedure called a frenectomy.  We perform frenectomies for newborns, toddlers, preschoolers and older children.

Growth and Development & Braces:

As a pediatric dental specialist, Dr. Kristi is Southeast Alaska’s local expert on the growth and development of children’s dentition, jaws and craniofacial structures.

Dr. Kristi’s young smile evaluation may provide your child with a more positive experience should they need orthodontic treatment.
